La Clusaz by Thays Sokolov

La Clusaz

La Clusaz is a village in France. It is located in Haute-Savoie, not far away from Annecy. This village has a ski station. I spent all my holidays skiing over there.

In 1902, the road connecting Annecy and the valley of Thônes with the Aravis Valley opened and allowed La Clusaz to become a tourist center for summer and winter sports. The station had it’s first lift in 1934, and in the following 30 years there was enough lifts to go till the highest point of the “massif de l’Aiguille”. In 1956 people could go ski in Beauregard. From Beauregard you can go to l’Etale; in the morning it is always sunny over there and you can reach the little village near, called Manigod. On the other side there is the highest point of La Clusaz station; Balme. When you come to the top you can see the Mont Blanc. It is worth going so high just for the splendid view you can have.

La Clusaz’s symbol was a silver rams head. But it changed, now it isjust a rams head green on a silver background.

Instead of skiing you can also paraglide if the weather is good. From up in the sky you can see the lake Leman (Geneva’s lake).

The village is made of shops for winter sports ( skis, snowboards, winter clothes) and food. La Clusaz has also a church near the central hall. For tourists, there are several small houses a company rends, where you can live. On the central place there are now some toys making music. They are made of cans, wood or even of zippers. Once in a year there is a show about the inventions of skiis and their evolution.
