The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet by P. Inozemtseva

The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet

I spent my holidays in the capital of Norway - Oslo. It is a nice city with really different architecture : new constructions looked agreeable with the old ones. One of the most interesting  places was Oslo opera house (Operahuset).  The building is situated in the Bjørvika neighborhood of central Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. It is a modern building, opened in 2008. The roof is opened for everybody. It angles to ground level creating a large plaza inviting pedestrians to walk up and enjoy the panoramic views of Oslo. Inside, the building is very large, wooden walls make the ambience. Numerous windows allows the sunlight to brighten the area and they allow us to enjoy the water outside. The main auditorium

is a horseshoe shape and illuminated by an oval chandelier. Seats include monitors for the electronic libretto system, allowing audiences to follow opera libretti in Norwegian and English in addition to the original language. During the act, it was really useful to follow the opera with that libretto system, because I didn't know the subject the actors were signing about. We were listening and watching the staging "Macbeth" by Norwegian director. It was something minimalistic ( almost empty scene, simple costumes and only the signing!). It looked like the building of the opera - nothing superfluous.
